1981: Nihon Falcom founded by Masayuki Kato

1987: Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished (a.k.a The Vanished Omes and The Ancient Land of Ys) is released in Japan on PC-8800. It is eventually ported to the FM-7, PC-98, X1, MSX2, and Master System, among others

1988: Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished - The Final Chapter is released in Japan on PC-8801 and PC-9801. It is eventually ported to the FM-7, X1, MSX2, Famicom, and Saturn, among others

1989: Ys I & II is released in Japan for the PC Engine CD-ROM, bundled together for the first time

1989: Ys (anime OAV) is released in Japan over two years

1990: Ys I & II is released in Japan on the TurboGrafx-CD

1990: Ys Book I & II is released in North America on the TurboGrafx-CD

1992: Ys Book I & II is released as a pack-in title for the TurboDuo

1992: Ys II (anime OAV) is released in Japan over roughly one and a half years

2001: Ys I & II Complete is released in Japan on Windows, containing grpahical updates and FMV sequences

2003: Ys I & II: Eternal Story is released in Japan on PlayStation 2

2007: Ys I & II is released on the wii Virtual Console

2008: Ys I & II DS is released in Japan on Nintendo DS as separate games

2009: Legacy of Ys: Books I & II is released in North America as a single package

2009: Ys I & II Chronicles is released on PlayStation Portable and allows players to choose between new Chronicles portraits or Complete's portraits

2009: Ys I & II Chronicles+ is released on Steam, adding additional options for sound (PC Engine, Complete, Chornicles)

2015: Ys Chronicles I is released on iOS and Android

2016: Ys Chronicles II is released on iOS and Android
